The size of the opening between the wires is 5mm square (3/16") and the grill is precision welded to the steel fame at several points. This cooler guard uses a finely meshed grill that ensures the cooling properties remain unaffected. Stones, insects and grime fill up the delicate fins of the cooler and cannot be removed without extensive labor, and usually the cooler fins bend and never look the same again. If another color is desired please leave a comment in the notes. Bolts on in under 5 minutes with no mods to your bike. Protect that oil cooler and add a unique mod to your bike while doing it. Also these seal are red rubber and are somewhat pliable where the black ones that I took out are almost as hard as plastic. The oil cooler of the K1600 GT, GTL, Bagger and Grand America is well positioned for the onrushing air stream, unfortunately, the result of this is that anything carried by this stream finds its way into the cooler. 25.00 Oil Cooler Screens 2018 And Up Softail Oil Cooler Screen 2018 and newer Softail Oil Cooler Screens. The smaller one is thicker than the ones I pulled out, but I figure this is from be compressed. One set has the center cushion part almost twice as thick as the other. I'm assuming that 2 are for the mount to cooler holes and the other 2 are for the cooler to block holes. I had a seal kit and it has four seals in it. The good one had an equal lip on both sides of the seal whereas this one was only about 1/2 there. That one looks as though the seal was put in wrong. ![]() Got the cooler off without too much hassle and looked at the seals. Started it up and sure enough it started leaking out of the back o-ring (one towards pulley side). Since the p/o put chrome shroud on, there was no likage or themostat to contend with. ![]() It wasn't too bad, took off the hex bar linkage, the belt and pulley, and the hinges for the deck lid. Well, because I didn't have the tools to pull the engine I pulled the shroud. I don't know how to check the cooler for leaks, or how to check the case for a crack. You should have no trouble gett the cooler off, and being able to check the seals, and the base. You'll need to take the decklid off, with hinges, as it makes clearing the car easier. Seeing as how you have a chrome shroud, it should be easier to pull off due to the fact that there is no stat or linkage etc. I thought that I would get complete original shrouding and paint to match body. What else could be leaking in that area (cracked block)? I was hoping to run this engine through the end of the season, then upgrading to a 1776. I suppose that if the shroud is off I can tell for sure where the leak is, and if it isn't the cooler/seals, the engine can come out. I did raise the shroud after taking off the generator and think that maybe I did the damage while lifting the shround with a big screwdriver.ĭo I have to pull it or can I fix if I take off the shroud and engine cover hinges.īummer, there's a car show tomorrow and I've been looking forward to it It's only about 5 miles away so I think I'm good to go but I will be marking my spot.Ĭhaos, how can tell with the engine in the car if it's the cooler or the seals? Can the shroud be pulled off completely with the engine in? How long can the engine be run without the shroud, generator and fan before it starts overheating? My question is can the oil cooler be accessed on a 1600dp with doghouse in a 71 vert? I'm afraid that I might have damaged it a few weeks ago when I was trying to find a noise (ended up being a cracked aluminum crank pully), but I thought it might have been in the cooling fan. It is a pretty good leak an I don't know what else could be leaking up in that area of the engine. Posted by Unknown on 15th Jan 2018 The product fits perfectly and it blends with the motorcycle color. The inlet of this duct is positioned in the mouth opening of the Mazda RX-8 to allow cooler ambient air to be force-fed directly into the REVi intake. I've always had a small leak on that side, but it's a VW, you know. Great quality and easy to install, the guard will most definitely protect the oil cooler from the od jumping up stone as experienced on the bike of one of my fellow K1600 bikers. Racing Beat offers our Ram Air Duct for use with the Racing Beat REVi Intake Kit on all 2004-2008 RX-8s. It then continues to follow the tin and runs down the side of the engine. It seems to be coming from the cooler area and the it follows the cooling tin for 3/4 from the front (flywheel side) of the engine. Don't know if it's the cooler or the seals, but whatever it is leaks at idle. Well, as far as I can tell, my oil cooler is leaking. ![]()
